Embodied carbon, embodied energy and renewable energy: a review of environmental product declarations
نویسندگان
چکیده
Environmental product declarations (EPD) to EN 15804 provide information about the embodied carbon dioxide of construction products – their life cycle greenhouse gas emissions alongside reporting use renewable and non-renewable primary energy secondary fuels, among other environmental indicators. As number EPD increases, they become a useful data resource consider these impacts. In moving towards reduction in products, it is necessary resources efficiently allow transition net zero; this because increasing demands on decarbonise industry, transport domestic consumption limited capacity expand generation. This paper reviews published for structural reinforcing steels, cement, bricks timber considers, cradle gate ‘product’ stage, exploring relationship with (total used), balance energy, efficient energy. It found, timber, that show greater percentage have higher suggesting less products.

Architectural Strategies to Reduce Embodied Energy in Residential Buildings in Bandar-Abbass
The most common thing that architects and engineers are trying to improve is the building's energy consumption after construction. The energy consumed in the process of building a house receives plenty of resources, so a solution to the energy problem and the most appropriate materials for a building can be selected by evaluating the energy of the construction time (Embodied Energy). In this re...
متن کاملEstimation and Minimization of Embodied Carbon of Buildings: A Review
Building and construction is responsible for up to 30% of annual global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, commonly reported in carbon equivalent unit. Carbon emissions are incurred in all stages of a building’s life cycle and are generally categorised into operating carbon and embodied carbon, each making varying contributions to the life cycle carbon depending on the building’s characteristics. ...
متن کاملEnvironmental sustainability enhancement of a petroleum refinery through heat exchanger network retrofitting and renewable energy
This paper presents a case study on the enhancement of environmental sustainability in a petroleum refining process based on an exergetic diagnostic approach. The Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) pinpointed crude oil production and electricity generating systems as the main sources of environmental unsustainability. The existing hot utility demand of the process is 78.4 MW with a temperature differe...
متن کاملEmbodied Carbon Tariffs
Embodied carbon tariffs tax the direct and indirect carbon emissions embodied in trade — an idea popularized by countries seeking to extend the reach of domestic carbon regulations. We investigate their effectiveness using simulations from an applied general equilibrium model of global trade and energy use. We find that the tariffs do reduce foreign emissions, but their ability to improve the g...
متن کاملEnvironmental Impacts and Embodied Energy of Construction Methods and Materials in Low-Income Tropical Housing
This paper evaluates the current conditions of Ugandan low-income tropical housing with a focus on construction methods and materials in order to identify the key areas for improvement. Literature review, site visits and photographic surveys are carried out to collect relevant information on prevailing construction methods/materials and on their environmental impacts in rural areas. Low quality...
